Berit Gwendolyn Gilma is a Grammy-nominated artist, creative director, and explorer of extreme pop-cultural worlds. "For me, there's something mystic about water," says Berit Gilma, singer of the dark electro duo DER KLEINE TOD. "In Greek mythology, it separates life and the afterlife. The song is about surrendering to its power." Inspired by ancient legends and futuristic industrial sounds, the melancholic anthem "Styx" came to life. "We wanted to pack this feeling of a dangerous pull into a song that draws you in in a seductive way", adds band colleague Christian Fuchs. Formed between L.A. and Vienna, DER KLEINE TOD combines avantgarde influences with ghostly songwriting.
“It’s brilliant!”, said Nick Launay enthusiastically about STYX, a producer to whom the world owes key albums by Nick Cave and David Byrne. “Very cool, sounds like Lee & Nancy meets Sisters of Mercy” was Austrian star director Andreas Prochaska’s reaction to STYX. Apple Music positioned the track in its “Sinister Sounds” playlist, alongside Cigarettes After Sex and Bauhaus.
